I'm a high school student interested in persuing the premed track at Wesleyan University for my undergrad. I was amazed by the fact that 89% of premed students get accepted to their top choice med school, but considering that Wesleyan is not a private research institution, what kind of research opportunities are available to undergrads seeking bio/chem related majors? Also, just out of curiosity, how is it possible that such a large percentage of students do go wherever they want for med school? Are there not many students on the premed track or do undergrads apply to less competitive schools??

wesleyan as an athlete and the social situation
Just wondering if any one has any input on the student athlete experience at Wesleyan. I am very aware of the academic rigor that Wesleyan exemplifies but also wondering about the social component? Many of the NESCACschools seem to have a reputation of all work and no play. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

No supplemental questions for Wesleyan?
Does Wesleyan really not have any supplemental questions for admission? My daughter is working on her application and has completed her Common App, but cannot find ANY additional questions required from Wesleyan. I was told by her CC that all the good schools do. Anyone see something that we do not? Thanks very much for any help!

Missed Deadline for Wesleyan Interview - Is it a big deal?
Hi guys,
I just sent in my ED2 application to Wesleyan on Jan 1, then I realized the interview deadline was early December. I understand an interview is only a part of the admission process, but I am still worried. I sent Wesleyan an email and they said the same thing. I hope some of you can share your past experiences with similar situations - thank you so much!

Managing celiac and a strict gluten free diet at Wesleyan
How well does Wesleyan feed celiac kids that have to avoid even the slightest cross contamination of gluten? Any input would be appreciated.
If any Wes students or recent grads are out there with celiac, please take a minute to complete this survey:

Chance me for Transfer!
Hi!
I am a second semester sophomore and have a 3.81 GPA (straight A's for the past two semesters). I went to UMass Amherst in the honors college for 3 semester but this semester I am taking classes at a local community college for health reasons (documented). I am a legal studies major with a major GPA of 4.0. I was also deputy events director for the University Democrats, Vice President of Political Advocacy Council, and reporter for a school newspaper. I have 2 stellar letters of recommendation from professors in my major and a letter of rec from the head of honors. I have volunteered on several political campaigns including Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, etc.
I am a gay white man under the poverty line if that factors in for anything.
My high school record is pretty mediocre because I was going through family problems. I had a 3.3 GPA and a 1200 on the new SAT. I was president of the Junior Rotary Interact Club and lead attorney of the Mock Trials team.
Thanks in advance

Musical Theater at Wes?
I applied ED2 to Wes but I just had a small freakout because I looked on the CFA performances for the past few years and I didn't see anything related to musical theater. I feel like an idiot for not looking sooner, but I knew they had a strong theater program so I just assumed... Does anyone know if Wes has anything at all related to musical theater, like student groups or literally anything? I've done a musical every year since third grade and the idea of going completely cold turkey really sucks. Any responses would be appreciated.

I just called the admissions office and they confirmed that ED2 decisions are TONIGHT at 8 PM. Good luck to everyone!

Deferred to Regular Decision
I applied to Wesleyan University in Early Decision–02 round and have been deferred to Regular Decision round because of asking for huge financial aid as an international student. My deferral letter states that around four to five percent international applicants applying for financial aid are admitted via Regular Decision round each year. Wesleyan University is still my top choice and I strongly wish to be admitted here. Now that I have been deferred, what are the specific steps that I should take now?

Wesleyan Film Studies Major
Because the application for the film studies major comes at the end of sophomore year, does anyone know if the students pursuing this are considered undeclared majors in their freshman and sophomore years? Is two years as an undeclared major common at Wesleyan? Or, do most people who want to go into film studies choose a different major and then switch if they get into the program? Thanks.

Wesleyan for Pre-Med?
Does anyone have any information on Wesleyan's preparation and support for students planning to pursue a career in the medical field? How are the sciences as Wesleyan, especially for the Molecular Biology & Biochemistry major? I heard that they have great research opportunities and a generally high acceptance rate to med school, but I don't know much else.
I'm choosing between Wesleyan ($15k/yr) and two in-state schools (0k/yr for one, 10k/yr for the other), so I need to compare price vs. educational opportunity.
Any info would be so helpful!

Wesleyan or Macalester
Hey guys! I just finished receiving all decisions, and I am concerning which college to commit to. While I like both Wes and Mac, I prefer Mac because of its better location and campus, as well as its curriculum. I want to major in Anthropology and Archaeology, which both schools offer. However it is true that Wes is better ranked than Mac. What is their difference? What is Mac weak of, and what are you opinions? Thank you!
